Garth Dowling
Garth Dowling is Director of Photography, Magazine Division, Boy Scouts of America.
Garth came to the BSA by way of the wilds of Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he put his University of Missouri-School of Journalism degree to use for seven years as the chief photographer of the Jackson Hole News followed by 14 years of editorial and commercial freelance photography. His work has appeared in publications large and small world-wide as well as providing the principal photography for two coffee table books about Molesworth furniture and more recently on the Hirschfield Collection of American Indian Art for Gibbs Smith Publishing.
One of Garth’s first freelance editorial clients upon leaving newspapers was Boys’ Life magazine, and he hasn’t looked back since. He covers the lows and highs of Scouting from open water scuba diving to mountaineering and most everything in-between. He came aboard the BSA in 2012 as the Director of Photography for Boys’ Life, Scouting and Eagles’ Call magazines.
